 On May 1, 2004 Hungary joined and became a full member of the EU-15 with 10 other countries.
The European Union is a social and political community of democratic European countries that became integrated. Namely, the EU members have a common decision-making, executive instirutions, and unite a part of their independence.
The joining of EU has changed the Hungarian law making and infrastructure, and opened a lot of new economical, political and cultural opportunities, as well as a possibility to build up a strong relationship with further countries. However, a radical change in the welfare will take a few years to fulfil.
